Multi-Scale Texture Modeling

Patterns of crystallographic preferred orientation are referred to as texture. The specific subject of texture analysis is the experimental determination and interpretation of the statistical distribution of orientations of crystals within a specimen of polycrystalline material, which could be metals or rocks. The objective is to relate an observed pattern of preferred orientation to its generating processes and vice versa. In geosciences, texture of minerals in rocks is used to infer constraints on their tectono-metamorphic history. Since most physical properties of crystals, such as elastic moduli, the coefficients of thermal expansion, or chemical resistance to etching depends on crystal symmetry and orientation, the presence of texture imparts directional properties to the polycrystalline material. A major issue of mathematical texture analysis is the resolution of the inverse problem to determine a reasonable orientation density function on SO(3) from measured pole intensities on , which relates to the inverse of the totally geodesic Radon transform. This communication introduces a wavelet approach into mathematical texture analysis. Wavelets on the two-dimensional sphere and on the rotational group SO(3) are discussed, and an algorithms for a wavelet decomposition on both domains following the ideas of Ta-Hsin Li is given. The relationship of these wavelets on both domains with respect to the totally geodesic Radon transform is investigated. In particular, it is shown that the Radon transform of these wavelets on SO(3) are again wavelets on . A novel algorithm for the inversion of experimental pole intensities to an orientation density function based on this relationship is developed.  相似文献

To improve geographical accessibility to health facilities in rural Ghana, it has been recommended that additional health facilities be built. Resource constraints make this recommendation infeasible. Using location-allocation models, this paper demonstrates that in the Suhum District of Ghana substantial improvements in accessibility can be achieved with better locational choices and without additional facilities. Also, additional facilities will produce little improvement in accessibility if location is not explicitly considered. The paper demonstrates the utility of location-allocation models for improving accessibility to services in the Third World.  相似文献

本文运用近50 a来500 hPa层次上南极、赤道和北极位势高度以及南北半球西风指数的资料，分析了它们的时间演变规律及其相互间的关系.结果表明，南极位势高度显著下降；赤道位势高度显著上升.南极、赤道和北极位势高度都存在着显著的年际、年代际变化特征.总体上，南极位势高度与赤道位势高度有极其显著的负相关关系，北极与赤道的位势高度之间以及两极位势高度之间相关关系不显著；在共振的特定频率中，北极位势高度振荡落后于南极位势高度，赤道位势高度振荡又落后于两极位势高度振荡，气候变化最先开始的区域为南极地区.进一步分析表明,伴随着以上三个区域的位势高度趋势变化及其周期振荡，必然引起高空西风的增强与周期振荡.研究表明，南北两半球西风指数都存在显著的上升趋势，且存在显著的年代际变化特征.其中，南半球西风指数上升幅度较北半球大，其振荡落后于南极位势高度.  相似文献   

Shapes and Pole Orientations of Asteroids (360) Carlova and (209) Dido

Several light-curves of asteroid (360) Carlova and (209) Dido in different epochs were analyzed to determine shapes and pole orientations by means of AM-method and least squares method. New values of a/b, b/c, λ _p and β _p for asteroid (360) Carlova were obtained, which are 1.52°, 1.5°, 120 ± 6° and 66 ± 7°, respectively. We report a first determination of the parameters of (209) Dido which are 1.3°, 1.1°, 221 ± 6° and 37 ± 3°, respectively.  相似文献   

地形位指数模型改进及其在植被覆盖评价中的应用

地形作为影响植被覆盖的重要因素,对植被恢复评价以及生态修复规划意义重大。地形位作为测度地形因子综合效应的指标,具有单一地形因子难以比拟的优势。然而,现有地形位指数算法以整个研究区为参照,未考虑空间异质性,难以反映植被生长的局部环境特征。基于地理学第三定律对地理环境相似的强调,融合“空间位置邻近”和“环境特征相似”,对传统地形位模型进行改进：① 引入局部窗口算法,以突出局部地形特征;② 在不同生境因子组合下测算地形位指数,以排除环境差异对地形位作用的干扰。案例研究表明,新模型有效提升了地形位指数对植被覆盖水平的解释力度;当考虑生境因子组合,且采用最优窗口时,局部窗口地形位指数与植被覆盖度之间的相关性最高。此外,通过观察不同生境组合下的地形位指数发现,在高热少水阴坡和高热少水阳坡条件下,植被覆盖度与局部窗口地形位指数具有更高相关性;可见,越是水资源相对匮乏区域,植被覆盖对局部窗口地形位的响应越敏感。本文有望为植被恢复评价与规划提供新的指标。  相似文献
